  • Harold Dean “Zobo” Hicks, 75 of Harrisburg, passed away 2:14 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
    He was born in Harrisburg April 21, 1938, the son of Earl and Violet Rose Hicks. Harold was married to Charlotte Johnson Hicks who survives.
    Harold graduated from the Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and pastored several churches in southern and central Illinois until he became vision impaired. He later retired from the Chicago Faucet Co. and returned to live in Harrisburg. Harold started a clown ministry while living in Chicago and brought it to Southern Illinois with him when he moved back. His alter ego was Zobo the clown.
    Harold is survived by his wife, Charlotte; three daughters, Cheryl (Bruce) DeLashmit and Chris (David) Hole, both of Normal, and Kathy (William) DeLashmit of Maryville, Wash.; one son, Harvey of Harrisburg; two brothers, Jim (Lynn) Hicks of Mesa, Ariz., and Bob (Sharon) Hicks of Naples, Fla.; along with nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by him parents; one brother, Earl Jr.; and one sister, Ruth Moore.
    Services for Harold “Zobo” Hicks will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at the McKinley Ave Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Dye officiating and burial in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of arrangements.
