  • Janet Ann Molinarolo, age 71 of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:02 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at her residence in Harrisburg.
    Janet was born on Monday, Oct. 26, 1942, in Harrisburg, to the late Walter and Anne (Mazikas) Giltosky. She married Paul Molinarolo on Nov. 30, 1963, and he survives in Harrisburg.
    Janet was a retired elementary teacher and an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She earned a Masters Degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Janet loved her family so well and was a beloved wife, and the most wonderful mom and doting grandmother there ever was. She was a loved school teacher, having taught over 35 years in elementary and gifted education in the Harrisburg schools. Janet was involved in multiple organizations. She served as the Chicago Province Director 2006-2008 for the National Council of Catholic Women, and was currently Chair of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Award Committee. She was President 2010-2012 of the Belleville Diocesan Council of Women and currently served as Vice President South Vicariate.
    Janet was a past state president of Alpha Delta Kappa, Star Group Leader of Second Act, Membership Chair of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, as well as a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Sigma Phi, St. Mary’s Ladies Auxiliary, Saline County College Club and the SIC Senior Art Class.
    She enjoyed her art classes, women’s card clubs, traveling, and most of all she loved her family dearly. Janet and Paul celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with close family and friends on Nov. 30, 2013. Janet was a friend to everyone, she was everyone's favorite teacher, and she never met a stranger. She is dearly loved, was so full of life, and will be greatly missed by so many.
    Janet is survived by her husband Paul of Harrisburg; son, David Molinarolo of Harrisburg; daughter, Amy Severson and husband Mike of Nashville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Reed Severson of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Diane Kovach and husband Jerald of Harrisburg; sister-in-law, Nita Schmitt, of Crete; nieces and nephews, Angie Kovach, Chris Kovach, Karen Miller, Caroline Bach, Jeff Schmitt, John Schmitt, Thomas Schmitt; aunt, Betty Mazikas of Raleigh; and several cousins.
    Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Harrisburg. Father Abraham Adejoh will officiate; burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Donations may be made to: Gallatin-Saline Illinois Retired Teachers Association scholarship fund, Saline County College Club scholarship fund or National Council of Catholic Women. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
