Sesser man sets Tamaroa yard on fire trying to make methamphetamine

On Saturday March 15, 2014 the Perry County Sheriff's Department received a phone call in reference to a yard fire that had occurred earlier that day at 4972 US Rt. 51 near Tamaroa. The caller stated they believe a Joe Soldan had been cooking meth and caused a fire which spread through the yard. Tamaroa Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Perry County Sheriff's Department investigators discovered items from a meth lab at the residence.

On Sunday March 16, 2014 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Perry County deputies and the Sesser Police Department located and arrested Joe Soldan in Sesser. Soldan was transported back to the Perry County Jail.

Joseph Soldan, 44, of Sesser was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine manufacturing materials and unlawful disposal of methamphetamine manufacturing waste.

Soldan was incarcerated in the Perry County Jail. Bond was set at $50,000.

Sesser Police assisted the Perry County Sheriff's Department in the arrest of Joe Soldan.

An investigation is continuing.
