  • Eldorado approves security cameras, door buzzers

  • At its regularly scheduled meeting Jan. 16 the Eldorado School Board heard a presentation about the need to replace outdated and obsolete security cameras throughout the school system.

  • At its regularly scheduled meeting Jan. 16 the Eldorado School Board heard a presentation about the need to replace outdated and obsolete security cameras throughout the school system.
    The replacement of the outdated electronic cameras will take six weeks for the entire system and four weeks at the high school at a total price of $60,000. The board approved the purchase of the new equipment in light of the need for increased security. Funding for the purchase will come partially from a grant and the rest from the sales tax revenues.
    Elementary teacher Lori Cox received recognition for two awards. She earned one as a Peabody Energy Leader In Education and the other from the lllinois State Board of Education.
    Ed Kerkhover updated the board on current and future building projects noting that one middle school teacher stated she no longer has to teach in a sweater and gloves following improvements to her classroom.
    Cody Cusic and Sara Childers gave an update on the Senior Trip 2014. The participating students will travel to Disney World departing May 5 and arriving home on May 9. There are side trips to Daytona Beach and Universal Studios included in the trip.The use of school buses to transport the students to Nashville's airport and pick them up when they return was approved.
