Jeanne Marie Miller (Starnes), 65, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014.
She was born to the late Doris and Clifford Miller on Feb. 7, 1948, in Calcutta, Ind. She graduated from Richfield High School in Richfield, Minn., in 1966. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout from 1966 to 1971.
She married James H. Starnes in 1968 and they moved to Macomb, Ill., in 1973. They lived together in Macomb, Ill., until 2009 when they divorced and she relocated to Davenport, Iowa.
Jeanne was a loving mother who spent many years raising her family. She completed her bachelor's from WIU in 1989. She was involved in the Macomb community in many different ways, including working as the Director of the United Way from 1991 until 2005.
She was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. She most recently went on a cruise to Copenhagen with family and friends in August.
Jeanne is survived by children Olivia Gowdy (Damon) of Bolingbrook, Ill., Christopher Starnes of Camarillo, Calif., and Michael Starnes of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother Richard Miller (Pam) of Richfield, Minn.; and sister Kathleen Miller of Eagan, Minn.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to River Bend Foodbank at 309 12th Street, Moline, IL 61265 or McDonough County United Way at 440 N. Lafayette, Suite 106, Macomb, IL 61455.
Jeanne wished to be cremated and the family will make future plans to hold a memorial service to celebrate her life.
