  • Harrisburg High School head wrestling coach Greg Langley knows that the Bulldogs' 50-28 loss against Herrin will not reflect the positives the longtime Harrisburg coach saw from his guys against the Tigers.
"I felt like we had some positives from this match overall," Langley said. "We had guys do a pretty good job against quality opponents and really stayed after them through out. We are headed in the right direction and hope to keep improving in practice to carry it over when it counts."
The Bulldogs came away with five wins in 10 matches, while forfeiting four matches.
"Again, giving up 24 points by forfeit is a tough obstacle to overcome, but the guys we did have, wrestled pretty well, win or lose," Langley said. "We showed some steps towards improving with our offense in neutral, but still have to get better with our re-shots."
Darren O'Dell earned a win in the 120-pound weight class with a pinfall at 1:13, while Austin Lowry (145) got a 12-3 decision. Cole Adams (195) won via forfeit, while Tyler Owens won by injury default and Mckenzie Alvey (285) won with a pinfall at 2:27.
Harrisburg returns to the mats when they host Benton and Carterville Saturday at 10 a.m. in Bonnell.
