Margaret L. Hatcher, age 101 of Harrisburg, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
Margaret was born on Monday, Aug. 19, 1912, to the late Mathew P. and Mary (Foster) Zimmer. She married Joe L. Hatcher on Wednesday, March 20, 1936, and he preceded her in death on Thursday, Nov. 27, 1986. Margaret was a homemaker and a member of Buena Vista Community Church, Harrisburg Medical Center Auxiliary where she was the Auxiliarian of the Year in 1998, and she was the oldest living member of the Saline County Home Extension. Margaret graduated from HTHS with the class of 1932.
Margaret is survived by two sons, Edward J. Hatcher and wife Janet of Springfield and Bob Hatcher and wife Linda of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Ryan Hatcher and wife Becky of Kirkwood, Mo., Kelli Squires and husband Frank of Springfield, Robert S. Hatcher and wife Stephanie of Grayville and Sarah Weasel and husband Kaysey of Harrisburg; ten great-grandchildren, Edward J. Hatcher II, Alexandra Hatcher, Regan Hatcher, Wyatt Hatcher, Brayden Hatcher, Shelby Trammel, Gunnar Trammel, Peyton Trammel, Halle Weasel, and Aubry Weasel; and one great-great-grandchild, Vayla Riddick.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe; and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Margaret L. Hatcher will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Bill Dudley will officiate and burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery at Eldorado. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
