  • Morthland College has announced it plans to begin hospitalist care at Harrisburg Medical Center.
According to a prepared release, Morthland College Health Services signed a contract to take over all hospitalist care after successful communications led to an agreement with HMC's Chief Executive Officer, Rodney Smith.
MCHS' Medical Director and Morthland College President and Founder, Dr. Tim Morthland, MD, PhD, "viewed the proposal as a way for MC and MCHS to serve the constituents of the region," read the release.
HMC is currently a 98-bed facility. MCHS will be responsible for providing emergency medicine care by both physicians and mid levels. These members also work within West Frankfort's clinic and also provide hospitalist care at Franklin Hospital in Benton.
"We are pleased to place members from MCHS at Harrisburg Medical Center," said Morthland.
"Throughout discussions with administrators at HMC, we witnessed a commitment to deliver compassionate and quality health care," added Morthland.
His work at Franklin Hospital has earned him much respect. According to sources within the hospital Morthland is very well liked, especially by his older client's who feel comfortable with the affable doctor and trust his abilities to care for them.
According to the release, the same members of Morthland Health Services also serve as a faculty in the newly credited Department of Biological Sciences at Morthland College.
