  • The Eldorado Holiday Tournament plays a lot like "Survivor."
For three days, it's all about who can outwit, outplay and outlast the opposition.
Harrisburg has been good about doing that the past three seasons. The proved again why Friday night as they knocked off Herrin 63-52.
It was a balanced scoring attack for the Bulldogs as Harrisburg (7-1) put four players in double figures.
Bahari Amaya returned from a wrist injury suffered Thursday night against NCOE to lead the charge with 15 points, while Eli Taborn-Scott scored 14 points. Jake Simerly tossed in 12 points and Jarren Goldman tacked on 10 points.
Rounding out the scoring for Harrisburg was Anfernee Houston (nine points) and Corbin Crim (three points).
Despite a 1-for-8 free throw performance in the first half, Harrisburg was able to build a 34-29 lead at the break, thanks in part to a 14-for-25 performance from the field.
Harrisburg jumped out to a 13-3 lead after back-to-back 3-pointers by Houston, forcing Herrin head coach Irv Lukens to call a timeout to refocus the troops.
Herrin got to within five points in the first half, but the Bulldogs were able to extend the lead back to double digits when Houston burried another triple to make it 34-24 with 1:20 to play prior to halftime.
Herrin didn't go away quietly as the Tigers got a game-high 21 points from junior guard Ryan Snider.
Kameron Driemeyer also finished in double figures for Herrin, tossing in 11 points.
Harrisburg will now play Massac County in Saturday's semifinal game at 1:30 p.m. Herrin falls to the fifth place bracket where they take on Anna-Jonesboro at 10 a.m. Saturday.
