  • Carolyn Sue Vaughn, 65, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Harrisburg, was granted angel wings at 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 17, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

  • Carolyn Sue Vaughn, 65, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Harrisburg, was granted angel wings at 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 17, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
    Carolyn was born March 26, 1948, in Hinton, W.Va., to the late Royce and Juanita (Saunders) Jones.
    She attended Logan High School in Logan, W.Va., continued her education at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, graduating with an associate’s degree in nursing. Ms. Vaughn had been a Registered Nurse for more than 35 years. She had been attending Daytona Christian Church with her granddaughter, Clarice. Carolyn was an avid reader, enjoying Patterson and Cornwell the most.
    She is survived by her daughter, Angela (Ronnie) Reaves, of Paducah, Ky.; her oldest granddaughter, Clarice (Jonathan) Deliefde, of Port Orange, Fla., granddaughters, Isla and Avery Wallace, of Paducah, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Paul Vaughn, in 2008.
    Per her wishes, she has been cremated and her ashes will be interred with her son, Rodney, this spring at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Harrisburg. A private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
