  • There were many holiday events scheduled last weekend and this week that were forced to cancel or reschedule on account of the 8 inches of snow, freezing rain, sleet and subfreezing temperatures.
Likewise, there were many other holiday events already scheduled to take place this weekend, the same time as many of the rescheduled events from last week. The result: Nobody looking for an event to provide them with holiday cheer needs to travel far; there is plenty going on in Saline County this weekend and next weekend.
These events may be found on Page 2A of this publication. We are also printing them here as a handy holiday event reference.

    Lions Club
The Holiday Lights Parade was planned for Thursday, but snow piles along the route caused organizers to cancel. Those with floats already lighted had the opportunity to display them at the Saline County Fairground Thursday night for motorists to drive past and admire.
But two other aspects of the parade that do not involve parking along snow-covered side streets are carrying on.
Santa Claus will arrive at the Town and Country Lions Building, 1400 S. Main St., Harrisburg, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, to greet the children.
Also at the same time the Lions will be judging the home Christmas lights decorations along South Main Street. Those wishing to be in the running should be sure to have their lights on during that time.
