  • Lights Parade canceled, several events rescheduled

  • Snow, ice and cold have impacted several events originally planned for last weekend and this week and many have been rescheduled or canceled. Among those canceled is the annual Holiday Lights Parade in Harrisburg.

  • Snow, ice and cold have impacted several events originally planned for last weekend and this week and many have been rescheduled or canceled.

    Holiday Lights Parade
    Holiday Lights Parade originally planned Thursday, Dec. 12 is canceled for the year. Snow-covered side streets, parking challenges and frigid weather are the reasons, according to Fire Chief Bill Summers. The week of subfreezing temperatures will not likely result in any improved conditions by Thursday.
    Main Street Christmas Tree Fest and Cantata
    Eldorado Main Street Christmas Tree Fest at Eldorado Old City Hall was rescheduled to 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 and the Christmas Cantata is rescheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 at First Christian Church, 1124 Walnut St.
    Christmas Bazaar
    Dorris Heights-Equality Full Gospel Church Christmas Bazaar is canceled and the church play “Black and White Penguins” is rescheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.
    Harrisburg Library Open House
    Harrisburg District Library Holiday Open House and Michal Foster Berry Art Reception has been rescheduled to 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14.
    Madrigal Feaste
    Southeastern Illinois College Madrigal Feaste shows are rescheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Call Kellye Whitler at 841-4649 to choose a night to attend.
