Meyer is the owner of the project titled "Mach 1." His corporation, Meyer Oil, is located in Teutopolis in Effingham County.
The truck stop will help put Harrisburg on the trucking industry's map, Meyer said. Mach 1 offers a fuel stop and a resting place along midwest routes for 18 wheelers.
"Mach 1 will have two fueling stations for large trucks and fuel pumps for cars. It will have a convenience store, a liquor store, a car wash, a Domino's Pizza shop. The project should be done by early April, depending on the weather," said Meyer.
"The fuel will be Marathon brand."
Meyer said his company has been looking at Harrisburg as a location since well before the tornado hit last year.
"This is a good Southern community. We have had an interest for a long time. I am grateful to the mayor and the council for what they did to help make this happen. We are excited about being here," Meyer said.
