  • ISP investigating death of 3-month-old

  • At about 12:31 p.m. on Oct. 30, the Johnston City Police received a 911 call of a 3-month-old child unresponsive at 823 West 5th Street in Johnston City.

  • At about 12:31 p.m. on Oct. 30, the Johnston City Police received a 911 call of a 3-month-old child unresponsive at 823 West 5th Street in Johnston City.
    An ambulance and Johnston City Police units were dispatched and upon arrival police found a 3-month-old white male child who was unresponsive, according to a release from the Johnston City Police Department.
    A neighbor and the child’s father had begun CPR, which was taken over by a Johnston City police officer until ambulance personal arrived. Ambulance personnel continued CPR and the child was transported to Herrin Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
    The Illinois State Police Zone 5 Child Death Investigative Unit and Johnston City police are investigating the case. No further information will be available until the investigation is completed, according to the release.
