  • Ezra Leon Bryant, 77, of Junction, passed away 5:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Ridgway Manor in Ridgway.

  • Ezra Leon Bryant, 77, of Junction, passed away 5:10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at Ridgway Manor in Ridgway.
    He was born on Oct. 6, 1936, in Golconda, the son of Ezra H. “Jack”  and Rachel N. (Orr) Bryant. Leon married Sharon Heaton on July 20, 1962. He was an Army veteran and was a retired coal miner. A lifetime member of the Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596, Leon was a faithful member of the honor guard. Leon loved to hunt and fish and having fish fries at Round Pond. He liked to help his family and friends anyway he could.
    Leon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon Bryant of Junction; daughter, Marcia and Larry Stout of Shawneetown; son, Eddie and Kathy Combs of Crothersville, Ind.; daughter, Sheila and Ken Hirn of Mesa, Ariz.; son, Michael and Annie Bryant of Apache Junction, Ariz.; son, James Combs and fiancé Stephanie Pool of Eldorado; son, Jerry and Pam Bryant of Junction; daughter, Kerry and David Joyner of Shawneetown; two sisters, Lila Case of Shawneetown, Molly and Ronnie Cunningham of Harrisburg; one brother, Donald and Verna Bryant of Harrisburg; 19 grandchildren, Hanna, Jake, Molly, Shane and Mikey Bryant, Rachel Joyner, Casey Charleton, Stephanie Jones, Ashley Parker, Shawn and Scott Stout, Sharon Powell, Carla Boyken, Kristi Galarza, Katy and Jared Combs, Jami Dunk, Tonya Holmes, Stephanie Hirn; and 19 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Violet Boisjolie, Maxine Stricklin, Gaytha Harrawood; one brother, Howard Bryant; one grandson, Matthew Combs.
    Visitation for Leon will be held 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at the Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20 with Jean Wills officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery near Equality with military rites by Ridgway American Legion.
