  • Despite a pair of first half goals from Cody Morris and Dylan Butler, the Harrisburg High School soccer squad couldn't hold off Marion in a 3-2 defeat Monday at Michael Herrin Soccer Field.
"I think a 2-1 Bulldog lead going into half time really caught Marion by surprise," head coach Mike Stewart said. "The Dogs came to play soccer and our play has improved. I think we are finally getting the picture of what we need to do to get the job done.
"In the second half, Marion caught the blind side of the defensive line and took advantage of it twice to give them the equalizing goal as well as the go-ahead goal. To make the same mistake twice is a little frustrating and we should have recognized that and made the adjustment. We still had a few mistakes but overall the dogs are playing some outstanding soccer. I am very please and proud of what they are doing."
Harrisburg had six shots on goal against the Wildcats. Carver Gregg, James Curtis, Luke Horton and Morris all had one.
Ryan Cowsert took the loss in goal for the Bulldogs, allowing three goals, but making four saves in 80 minutes.
