Cecil L. Uzzle, age 80, of Marion and formerly of Eldorado, passed away peacefully at 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1933, in Madisonville, Ky., the son of John Logan Uzzle and Vada (Stewart) Uzzle.
Cecil attended school in Carrier Mills and was a graduate of Carrier Mills High School in 1950.
Cecil was united in marriage to Rosalyn Eadie on Saturday, Aug. 2, 1986, in Madisonville, Ky.
For many years Cecil was in the carpet and flooring business and was the owner and operator of The Carpet House in Eldorado and later Floorville in Marion until 2012 when his health forced him to retire.
He has been a member of Third Baptist Church of Marion for many years. Cecil loved his family and always looked forward to family gatherings. He will be missed and his memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Rosalyn Uzzle of Marion; four sons, Kale Uzzle and his wife Emily, of St. Louis, Mo., Doug Uzzle and his wife Alice, of Harrisburg, Jim Munds and his wife Tara, of Eldorado and Joe Munds of Marion; one daughter, Nancy Abelson of Palm Bay, Fla.; three grandchildren, Alex Abelson, Natalee Uzzle and Paige Munds; and one sister, Frances Smith and her husband Keith, of Madisonville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Arrangements for Cecil L. Uzzle have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home at 900 N. Court St., in Marion.
The visitation for the family and friends will be from 5 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at the Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home in Marion. Following the time of visitation the memorial service will be at 7:45 p.m. with the Rev. Scott Kallem presiding.
For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made to the SLU InterVarsity Scholarship Fund (checks designated to "InterVarsity") which allows college students with financial need to attend mission trips and retreats.
