At the Harrisburg Invitational held at Southeastern Illinois Community College earlier this week, Carrier Mills-Stonefort's Loren Whiting won the boys' portion, finishing in a time of 1953.
"I was really pleased to see Loren win the race," Wildcats head coach Mike Eisenhauer said. "He came back strong after not running up to his standards at our last meet. We had a few kids out, but I thought we did alright today considering four out of our five boys runners were freshmen.
Other finishers for Carrier Mills-Stonefort included, Christian Fuller (4th, 20:34), Brody Walker (12th, 22:03), Dylan Kyle (15th, 22:22) and Nathan Grimsley (26th, 32:47).
The lone girl runner for the Wildcats was Alyssa Binkley, who finished 10th overall with a time of 28:33.
Harrisburg's Miranda Elders finished second overall with a time of 23:05 to place the Bulldogs, while teammate Ashley Cain was fourth overall with a time of 25:04.Tiffanie Milligan was fifth with a time of 25:14.
Morgan Douglas ran in a time of 27:37 for a sixth place finish, while Bailey Fuerback was ninth with a time of 28:28. Edith Bolanos was 11th overall with a time of 31:05.
On the boys' side, Harrisburg won as a team, with 41 points. Massac County followed suit with 49 points, followed by Carrier Mills-Stonefort (58) and Eldorado (69).
For the Bulldogs, Micah Simmons was third overall with a time of 20:13 and Donny Hicks finished fifth with a time of 20:41. Mitch Daniels had a top-10 finish, coming in at eighth with a time of 21:30. Other finishes and times for Harrisburg included, Aiden Blades (11th, 21:58), Zackary Clarida (14th, 22:21) and Derrick Hawkins (25th, 32:45).
