  • An Anfernee Houston second half goal was enough for Harrisburg as they closed out with a 1-1 tie against Massac County Thursday at Michael Herrin Field.
The tie comes on the heels of an early season loss where the Bulldogs were shut out 8-0 in Metropolis.
"This was probably the best Bulldog soccer I have seen in long time," HHS head coach Mike Stewart said. "We played some great soccer tonight and we possessed the ball, we kept our formation, we moved the ball up and down the field using our short touch game and played together as a team. This is exactly what we have been working all season. Now it is finally coming together. There was definitely team playing going on tonight. Our defense played an outstanding game at containing the attacks and shutting down their efforts. The midfielder were able to win the ball in the middle and produce quick counter attacks."
Ryan Cowsert made three saves in goals for the Bulldogs, meanwhile the Bulldog offense peppered the Patriot defense with seven shots on goal.
"We play Marion and Anna Jonesboro next week and this is the A-Game that we need to play in order to get results," Stewart added.
