The Carrier Mills Fire Department is taking orders for their annual barbecued Boston butt sale. For over ten years the Carrier Mills Fire Department has held a sale and barbecue dinner to raise money for the fire department.
“We sell a lot of them,” said Fire Chief Jerry Choat. “We cook anywhere from 200 to over 300 every year.”
The Boston butts can be pre-ordered at the Carrier Mills Water Department office or from any Carrier Mills fighter.
“It’s better to pre-order,” Choat stated. “We have to order the meat and we don’t want to turn anyone away without some.”
Choat stated that he is pleased with the number of people come out to help the fire department with funding, especially with his as well as the other local fire departments coverage areas having been greatly increased lately.
“We get a lot of orders from people who have moved away and still come back to show support for their hometown,” Choat said.
The barbecue dinner and sale will be held to coincide with the annual Catskin Days festival over the weekend of Oct. 10 through Oct. 12, with the barbecue dinner being held at the Carrier Mills Municipal building 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.
Choat wants to encourage everyone to “Support the people who are there to help you and enjoy some good barbecue in the process.”
