For the 10th year October is recognized as a time for families and individuals to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and communities, according to a release from SCEMA.
SCEMA Coordinator Allan Ninness will give a presentation at 6 p.m.
Attendees will learn concrete steps on preparing their families, businesses and communities for emergencies and disasters.
Families will see the donated office space of the Saline County Emergency Management Agency at 402 Seright St., Harrisburg, see examples of family and personal emergency supplies kits, have opportunity to learn about becoming a SCEMA volunteer staff member, receive preparedness handouts and get weather radios programmed.
SCEMA encourages individuals to put together an emergency supply kit; make a family emergency plan; be prepared to help neighbors; and work as a team to keep everyone safe, according to the release.
