The Harrisburg High School volleyball team lost in straight sets to Carbondale Monday night, falling 25-14 and 15-14.
HHS head coach Stephanie Ferrell noted that her club stayed with South Seven opponent, Carbondale for a while, but then collapsed under great serving.
"We had trouble with serve receive and keeping the ball in play," Ferrell said. "We have been plagued with some recent injuries, which has changed our dynamics a bit. But Mady Jones and Audrey Morecraft, both underclassmen, came out and played hard for us tonight helping to fill in those spots. We just have to continue to adapt."
Statistically, Devan Jones finished with four kills on 9-of-14 hitting, while Hayley Thompson and Whitney Younger went 4-for-4 with two kills. Ashley Ferrell finished 6-for-8 on hitting and 4-of-6 on digs. Brittany Reynolds went 7-for-10 on digs and had one kill, while going 19-for-20 on sets with one assist.
Malayna Douglas was 14-for-16 on sets with two assists, while going 6-for-7 on digs.
Devan Jones had two blocks and Younger had one stuff, while Parker Upchurch finished 5-for-8 on digs.
Mady Jones went 5-for-6 on digs, while Younger had four and Morecraft finished 2-for-3.
The Carbondale junior varsity and freshmen teams also won Monday night with the JV winning in straight sets 25-16 and 25-16. The Terrier freshmen won 25-18 and 25-11.
Harrisburg is slated to play at Benton tonight (Tuesday) with a 7 p.m. start time.
