  • Hankins finishes sixth, Whiting takes 14th

  • Dempsey Hankins had a sixth place overall finish in a time of 23:01 at Thursday's Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Cross Country Invitational.
    Carrier Mills-Stonefort's Loren Whiting was the lone boy runner for the Wildcats. He finished 14th overall with a time of 20:10.
    Alyssa Binkley was the lone girl runner for the Wildcats as she finished with a time of 29:48 for a 22nd finish.
    Eldorado's Kelsea Newman had a 16th overall showing with a time of 27:21.
    For the Eagles on the boys' side, Richard Garceffa was 20th overall with a time of 21:!6 and Derek Mayberry was 21st overall with a time of 21:39. Ben Partridge was 28th overall with a time of 29:58.
    The Eldorado High School boys' cross country team made huge strides for head coach Gina Griffin and the EHS cross country program Thursday as the freshmen/sophomore team took first place at the NCOE Invite.
    The Eagles beat out the host team NCOE, Carmi-White County, Crab Orchard, Webber Township, Pope COunty, Hamilton County, and Mt. Vernon.
    Bret Plunkett took second place as an individual with a time of 19:17, while Ethan Partridge was fourth overall with a time of 20:37. Dillion Sigler was seventh with a time of 20:37 and Adam Partridge finished in a time of 25:18 for 16th place. Christopher Acheson was 18th overall with a time of 25:39, while Josh Pilkington was 24th overall with a time of 32:17.
    For Carrier Mills-Stonefort, Brody Walker was third overall with a time of 20:12, while other finishes and times included: Dylan Kyle (6) 20:36, Jonathan Jaegers (15) 24:47, Tyler Hustedde (21) 31:03 and Nathan Grimsley (23) 32:02.
