The Harrisburg High School boys' golf team took down Du Quoin 157-208 Tuesday afternoon at Shawnee Hills Country Club.
Alexander Tison birdied the first three holes en route to a two-under par 34 to take medalist honors.
Harrisburg head coach Mike Tison elected to sit Ben Fowler, Ryan Williams and Patrick Bittle in an effort to get his junior varsity players some experience.
"Du Quoin is struggling this year and I hated having Ben, Ryan and Patrick sit out but I wanted our better JV players to play and they did very well," Tison said. "In basketball, the coach can sit the starters after the first half, but we can't do that. it's all or nothing."
Garrett Jenkins carded a 40 for the Bulldogs, while Dillion Street shot a 41. Bryce Beal finished with a 42 and Jacob Mills shot a 48, while Marcus Taylor finished with a 49.
The Harrisburg girls golf team lost to Marion 185-196, where Alexa Burtis took medalist honors by firing a 42 at Shawnee Hills Country Club.
The 196 for Harrisburg is the lowest team score of the year, where both Collins Lambert and Amy DeNeal had their lowest scores of the season.
Lambert shot a 48, while DeNeal carded a 55. Skylar Street finished with a 51 and Lindsey Murray put up a 63, while Kaylynn Owens shot a 74.
Tison said that if Brutis' recent play is any indication, the HHS head coach expects the sophomore to have scores in the 30's by season ends.
