  • It was a clean sweep on all levels for the Harrisburg High School volleyball team Tuesday night.
The Bulldog varsity club won in three sets, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-9.
After falling by three points in the first match, Harrisburg head coach Stephanie Ferrell said she liked the fight she saw from her dogs.
"We came out flat in the first game," Ferrell said. "We didn't play well at all, making silly mistakes, but we bounced back in the second game passing, setting and hitting well.
"Devan (Jones) struggled to find her niche in the first game but once she found it she was unstoppable. It was a great come-from-behind win for us. It proves that you can have a bad game and three minutes later have the game of your life if you just keep your head up and work hard."
Jones finished 13-for-15 on hits with nine kills including a bomb to end the third and final match. She also had three blocks and two stuffs.
Haley Thompson was 15-for-17 on hits with eight kills, while Whitney Younger went 15-for-19 with eight kills. Ashley Ferrell finished 11-for-12 on hits with five kills.
Parker Upchurch was 6-for-9 on digs, while Hannah Bartok went 7-for-9 on digs. Younger led the charge, going 10-for-13 and Ferrell finished 6-for-8.
Malayna Douglas was 47-for-49 on sets with 18 assist and Brittany Reynolds was 25-for-27 with 10 assists.
Ferrell served 10 service points and had six aces, while Douglas had 19 service points as well to go along with one ace.
At the junior varsity level, Harrisburg won in three sets, 12-25, 25-7 and 15-14.
The Bulldog freshmen also won in three sets, 27-25, 24-26, 15-8.
Harrisburg is slated to host Norris City-Omaha-Enfield tonight (Wednesday) at Davenport Gymnasium. The Bulldogs will close out the week with a road game at Massac County Thursday night.
