  • Prep Cross Country: Eagle boys gain Top 10 finish

  • At the 13-team West Frankfort Cross Country Invitational Thursday, Eldorado finished sixth overall, while the Harrisburg girls took second.
    Eldorado scored a team total 200, finishing behind No. 1 finisher Nashville (33), and No. 2 finisher Murphysboro (80). Herrin (94) took third, while Hamilton County (122) and Carmi-White County (151) were fourth and fifth respectively.
    West Frankfort (211), Massac County (245) and Goreville (306) rounded out the final three teams.
    On the boys' side, Eldorado was paced by Bret Plunkett, who finished 19th overall with a time of 18:47. Richard Graceffa was 30th overall with a time of 19:09, while Dillion Sigler was 44th with a time of 19:47 and Ethan Partridge was 49th with a time of 20:12.
    Derek Mayberry (58th, 21:18), Adam Partridge (71st, 22:48), Christopher Acheson (74th, 23:39), along with Austin Hall (23:31), Ben Partridge (26:13) and Josh Pilkington (28:42) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles.
    Eldorado girls ran with two individuals as Dempsey Hankins took 13th overall with a time of 21:46 and Kelsea Newman had a 34th finish with a time of 25:18.
    Harrisburg's Taylor McDaniel took second overall with a time of 19:19. The Bulldogs earned 72 team points.
