  • Chris Mosier, president of the Carrier Mills Park Board, oversaw the installation of two new basketball goals in the West Washington Street Park in Carrier Mills on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 7.
A new pad had been poured earlier in the summer. Mosier said that this was phase two of the park renovation project, to be followed by a new concrete pad and two more basketball goals.
Moiser was assisted by Park Board member Scott Figg and a worker from MadMo Excavating who were volunteering their time.
“We are thinking about a fourth pad and making it a small skateboard area.” Moiser said adding, “We think we can get some ramps and jumps made and installed fairly inexpensively.”
Phase one was the replacement of the old playground equipment and replacing the fence around the playground area.
This equipment was paid for by a community improvement grant from Dr. Pepper and Snapple and from donations from local churches.
The new pad and goals were funded entirely from the park board budget.
Mosier said that the park district planned to have the second basketball court finished before the snow falls this year.
