  • Harrisburg gets back on track with win over Mt. Carmel

  • After three straight losses, the Harrisburg soccer team rebounded Thursday, earning a 9-1 victory at Mt. Carmel.
    Harrisburg put up five first half goals, while netting four in the second period.
    Ryan Cowsert got the win in goal for the Bulldogs, The junior played all 80 minutes, saving six shots.
    Luke Horton had the hat trick for Harrisburg, putting up three goals on seven shots, while Cody Morris and Dylan Butler had two goals. Hunter Ragan accounted for the other goal.
    Morris finished with two assists on the day, to go along with five shots on goal. Brennan Hawkins, James Curtis and Ragan all had an assist.
    On Tuesday, Harrisburg was shut out by Anna-Jonesboro at Michael Herrin Field.
    Hawkins took the loss in goal for the Bulldogs with four saves in 80 minutes.
    Harrisburg had just three shots on goal in the match with the Wildcats. Anfernee Houston, Nat Harris and Carver Gregg all had attempts.
    "This was a very disappointing way to open up our season at home," Harrisburg head coach Mike Stewart said, "We did not come to play (tonight). Our heads were definitely not in the game. It had really been a rough weekend for us, we had several players out with injuries or illness, so physically and mentally we were just not prepared for this game.
    "We play A-J again later this season at their place and we will be better prepared for that meeting," Stewart added.
