Catherine Clore Diefenbach, age 79, of Eldorado passed away at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado.
Catherine was born on April 28, 1934, in Harrisburg to the late Leo and Genevieve (Reid) Richmond. She married Tom A. Clore on Sept. 5, 1953. She later married Ed Diefenbach on May 12, 1989, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2012.
Catherine was a school teacher and taught at Carrier Mills and Harrisburg. She went to Fontbonne University in St. Louis and Graduated from SIU with a Bachelor’s degree. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Harrisburg, a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society, Literary Club and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
Surviving family members include her sister: Carol Drone of Murphysboro; son: Tom (Chloe Ann) Clore of Eldorado; daughter: Debbie Sanders of San Antonio, Texas; son: David Clore of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren: John (Sarah) Clore of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Emily Clore of Eldorado, Andrew Clore of Nashville, Tenn., Tim Leftkowitz of San Antonio, Texas, Jennifer Brown of Eldorado, Angela (Kenny) Watson of Eldorado and Chris (Krystal) Wilson of Harrisburg. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Randy Plunkett will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
