The Salukis open the regular season at Mizzou, marking the first meeting between the schools since the Tigers beat SIU by one point in the 2003 NCAA Tournament. Missouri has made five-straight NCAA Tournament appearances. The Salukis will also play road non-conference games at Austin Peay (Nov. 19), Chicago State (Nov. 30), Murray State (Dec. 17) and Miami University (Dec. 29).
Southern plays its regular-season home opener against Saint Louis on Nov. 16 and also hosts Missouri S&T (Nov. 21), Western Kentucky (Dec. 7), Ball State (Dec. 21) and SIUE (Dec. 23). Both SLU and Western Kentucky made the NCAA Tournament in 2013.
SIU will participate in a multi-team event in Estero, Fla. from Nov. 25-27. Other teams in the field are Louisiana Tech, Stetson, UIC, Wagner, San Diego, UNC Greensboro and St. Bonaventure. Tournament organizers will announce the bracket in mid-September.
The Missouri Valley Conference regular season begins on Jan. 2, when Southern hosts defending champion and Final Four team Wichita State. The league's annual tournament takes place Mar. 6-9 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
"We're very pleased with the schedule we've put together for our fans this season," said second-year head coach Barry Hinson. "We play four teams that were in the NCAA Tournament last season and three of them are at home."
The MVC will announce its television schedule later this month. Game times are subject to change. For information regarding season tickets, call 877-SALUKIS or 618-453-2000.
