  • Richard Max "Dick" Webb, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Deaconess Hospice Center in Evansville, Ind.
"Dick" was the only child of the late Ervin and Audrey (Walker) Webb born on Thursday, March 9, 1933.
After graduating from HTHS in 1952, he attended Southern Illinois University and then enlisted in the United States Air Force. He married his sweetheart, Jimella Vaughn on Sunday, Dec. 20, 1953, and she survives.
They were blessed with three children, Terri (Butch) Martin, Treva (Randy) Lands and Tyler (Teresa) Webb. From those unions came more blessings of grandchildren, Amber Burnett, Ashleigh (Steve) Smothers, Bridgette (T.J.) Mott, Alyssa (Seth) Cockrum and Blayden Webb and great-grandchildren, Noah and Cole Ferrell, Branson Burnett, Kinzleigh and Maddux Smothers, Adalynn and Avery Mott; step-grandchildren, Annette (Burt) Hubbs, and TJ Storms and great-stepgrandchildren, Adrienne and Savannah Hubbs, Christina Murray, and Brayden and Braxton Storms.
"Dick" is also survived by very special family members, sisters-in-law, Willis Myers, Norma Aldridge, Doris Oliver, Delores (Bill) York; brother-in-law, Donald (Jean) Vaughn; and a large family of nieces and nephews.
When it came to "Dick's" children, there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. He loved them dearly and was always there wanting to do more.
"Dick" was preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Eva and Lawrence Logsdon, Norman Myers, Nona and Looney Martin, Robert Aldridge and George Oliver.
"Dick" was an active member of Dorrisville Baptist Church and the Harrisburg Town and County Lions Club. In 1995 he was spotlighted on WSIL-TV 3 as an Unsung Hero for his work with the Lions Club Glasses Program.
"Dick" retired after serving 34 years with the United States Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster of the Shawneetown Post Office.
The grandkids' friends would even call "Dick" and Jimella, "Papa" and "Mama" while visiting. They loved to travel and went on numerous family trips and many adventures with their close friends Bill and Joan McNew.
In "Dick's" last few years of ailing health he could always depend on his good friend George Mitchell to pick him up and take him for a drive and to get pie.
All of his children dearly loved him and he will be sadly missed, yet will know he will be in Heaven always watching over them.
