A pasture tour is scheduled for August 27th at the Ron Fargo farm. The tour will start at 5 PM and consist of a hay wagon tour with stops to discuss fencing types, watering systems, prescribed grazing techniques, and erosion and sediment control practices for pastures. NRCS District Conservationist, Joe Gates, will also give an overview of the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), a program designed to encourage adoption of many of the conservation practices showcased in the tour.
The location of the tour is at the junction of 162nd Ave and 63rd St. From Sherrard High School, head East on County Rd NN (176th Ave) for 1 mile, and then North on 63rd St for 1 mile. A complimentary meal will be served to participants at the end of the tour. Please bring your own lawn chair for seating during the meal. In the event of rain, the tour will be rescheduled for August 29th. Reservations are required by August 21st.
