State Rep. Brandon Phelps Ready2Learn is ready to help kids who receive free or reduced lunches get school supplies and with school right around the corner is asking for donations.
“We have had tremendous success with this program in the past and I am thrilled to continue our service to the community,” Phelps said, in a prepared release. “We have been fortunate to have helped numerous children in the past because of several generous donations to aid in the purchasing of supplies.”
The requirements to receive the school supplies are parents must reside in the 118th District and students qualify for free or reduced lunch. ‘Ready2Learn’ is a not-for-profit program created by Phelps to provide school supplies to students who otherwise would not be able to purchase them on their own.
“Many times teachers end up helping their students with supplies out of their own pockets,” Phelps said. “With ‘Ready2Learn,’ teachers can contact us and let us know what their students need so we can supply them with the tools for learning.”
Anyone wishing to donate to ‘Ready2Learn’ may drop off items or funding at Phelps’ Harrisburg constituent service office at 607 S. Commercial, Suite B. For additional information, contact Phelps’ constituent service office at (618) 253-4189.
