  • Sue Casey, 76, of Harrisburg, passed away at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale after a long battle with kidney disease.

  • Sue Casey, 76, of Harrisburg, passed away at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale after a long battle with kidney disease.
    She was a housewife, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she loved all. She also assisted in the family owned business. She gathered a small army of friends as her sons grew up with and gathered their friends and did the same with the granddaughters. She was also mentor and host for this family for years at reunion gatherings and framed the basis for this family on Casey Hill.
    Sue is survived by her husband Jim of over 57 years of marriage; a son: Scott A. Casey of Evansville, Ind.; a granddaughter: Candice Renae Casey of Harrisburg; great-grandchildren: Skye Marie and Alye Mae. Her family consists of George and Jerry Casey of Columbus, Ohio, Bill and Catherine Casey of Bastrop, Texas, John R. Casey of Alton, Liz Leber of Harrisburg, Mary Davis of Vienna, Va., Rex Godber of Orlando, Fla., Eric and Erin Leber of Butte, Mont., Donnie Hutchinson of Vienna, grandson: Craig Richards of Mt. Vernon, along with many nephews and nieces.
    Special friends are Wanda Perkins of Harrisburg, Paulette and Bimp Simpson of Harrisburg, Connie Richards of Eddyville, Mark Thomas of Harrisburg and Patty McDowell of Rosiclare.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kent Allen Casey; brother, John C. Abbott; brother-in-law: Terry Casey; granddaughter: Mary Ellen Bratko.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Pastor Ed Nenonen will officiate. Burial will follow in New Salem Cemetery in Creal Springs. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg.
