Dorothy Eleanor Hess, 98, Raleigh, died at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at Fountainview Nursing Home, Eldorado.
A private service was held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, Eldorado, followed by burial in Masonic Cemetery, Raleigh.
Mrs. Hess was born in Fithian April 28, 1915, the daughter of Daniel Dallas and Sarah Ruby (Alexander) VanBuskirk. She graduated from Oakwood High School in 1933 and married Kendel Hess, of Raleigh, on Feb. 2, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1968. During her lifetime, she lived in Chicago, Raleigh, Chrisman, and Paris, Illinois.
Mrs. Hess is survived by her two sons, Kevin (wife Sharon) Hess of Raleigh and Kirk (wife Terry) Hess of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel VanBuskirk of Lincoln, Neb.; and one daughter, Kathleen Hess of Los Angeles, Calif.
