Howard Lee Patton, 71, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Howard was born in Harrisburg Sept. 15, 1941. He served in the United States Marines from 1961 to 1965. Howard retired from the Postal Service in 2005 after 37 years of service. After retirement, he enjoyed working at Paul's Pharmacy. Howard was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing Whiffle ball and spending time with his grandchildren.
Howard is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joanne (Roeder) Patton of Evansville, Ind.; sons, James G. (Rebecca) Patton, Jacob M. (Shelley) Patton and Jared L. (Terilea) Patton, all of Evansville, Ind.; sister, Lois D. Patton; brother, James T. Patton, both of Evansville, Ind.; brother-in-law, Greg (Bren) Roeder; grandchildren, Nathan, Nora, Adam, Lucy, Allie, Laura and Josie; three nieces and three nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalee (Allen) Patton; and by his grandparents, Tommie (Bettie) Allen and James H. (Nora) Patton.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 3600 Oak Hill Road, Evansville, Ind. 47711 with Pastor Karen Husby officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Park.
Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, Ind. 47711 and again from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Friday.
