The old Hucks building on U.S. Route 45 in Carrier Mills is getting a new owner and the village a new business.
A local couple, Jonathan and Regina Beachy have bought the building and are renovating it with plans to open a grocery store. The Beachy’s plan to offer bulk food, a meat and cheese deli and a bakery as well as local produce and food products.
Though they have never operated a grocery before, the Beachy’s are looking forward to the adventure.
“My wife always wanted to have a store,” Jonathan Beachy said.
“The building was for sale so we decided to buy it and open a grocery.”
The Beachys hope to be a service to the community and meet new people as they grow their business.
“We plan to provide something local people need and want,” Beachy said, adding with a smile, “We are excited about it.”
The Beachys plan to be open Monday through Saturday and are aiming to open the business by Thanksgiving.
When asked about a name for their store Beachy stated they had not decided yet. One of his construction crew smiled and said, “Name to be determined.”
