  • Gov. Pat Quinn says it's time for state lawmaker to buckle down and get to work on solving Illinois' nearly $100 billion pension crisis.
The Chicago Democrat appeared Thursday at a lithium ion battery company on the city's Southwest Side. Quinn says the employee work ethic at All Cell Technologies is exemplary — a thinly disguised swipe at lawmakers in Springfield who have failed to pass pension reform legislation.
On Wednesday, Quinn suspended pay for himself and all lawmakers, saying he wanted to spur lawmakers into action. He said Thursday that he'll hold fast on the pay stoppage until lawmakers pass legislation to fix the state's troubled pension system.
