With the American Legion District Tournament starting Saturday, the Carrier Mills Post 364 club finds themselves on something on a small winning streak.
On Sunday, Carrier Mills traveled to Carmi, coming away with two runs, taking Game 1 13-1 and winning Game 2 14-2.
In the first game Colton McCree pitched giving up six hits, no walks and eight strikeouts to claim the win. Jarred Jackson finished 3-5 with three runs scored, while Josh Bailey went 1-3 with three runs scored.
Darren Betz finished 3-5 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Colton McCree went 3-4 with an RBI. Skyler Smith also went 2-4 with a run and RBI. Tyler Thompson, Kyle Wise and Layne Hutson all had one hit.
In Game 2 Josh Bailey threw the complete game giving up six hits, walking four and striking out four for the win.
Dane Hish finished 3-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs, including a three-run home run in the first inning, scoring Jared Jackson and Josh Bailey.
Tyler Thompson went 1-1 with a run and two RBIs, including a home run that plated Hish and McCree in the first inning.
Carrier Mills played at Louisville on Friday, losing 6-5 prior to Post 364 playing a doubleheader against Dowell last Wednesday where Carrier Mills won the first game 6-2 behind a strong pitching performance from Dalton Huckleberry.
Huckleberry scattered seven hits, while walking three and striking out two.
Kyle Wise paced the offense at the plate going 2-3 with two runs, while Darren Betz, Austin Ferrell, Skyler Smith and Tyler Thompson all had a hit.
The second game was halted in the fifth inning when the home plate umpire was struck by a foul tip and taken by ambulance to the hospital when the game was tied at 4-all.
Post 364 is scheduled to play a rain out with Louisville at Mike Lawerence Field Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. with the winner getting the first seed in the District Tourney scheduled to start on Saturday.
