Saline County Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Southern Illinois are again intending to stuff a bus full of school supplies for kids.
Beginning July 1 and lasting until Aug. 3, the event is a school supplies drive for Carrier Mills, Eldorado, Galatia and Harrisburg school districts in Saline County. The school supplies will be equally distributed to the Saline County school districts.
"Many children go without even the most basic classroom necessities and this campaign ensures that these children can being the 2013 school year on the right foot," said Lori Cox, executive director of the Saline County Chamber of Commerce, "It's incredibly easy to take part in the campaign. If you are out shopping for your own kids, pick-up a few extra supplies and drop them in one of our Stuff the Bus containers at various Chamber member locations."
Collection sites have been set up at different area businesses throughout Saline County. The collection sites are currently available at these local businesses: All-In-One Real Estate, Bank of Marion, Banterra Bank, CURLEQ Salon, The Dollar General, Egyptian Health Department, Harrisburg Township District, Hughes Quality Flooring, Integrated Health, Jim Hayes, Inc., Kemper CPA Group, Joyner Therapy, Legence Bank, Mrs. Cindy's Day Care, Ponderosa, Old National Bank, Peoples National Bank, Personal Finance Company, Shawnee Rose Care Center, SIU Credit Union, Steward Chiropractic Center, Tanner CPA Firm and WEBQ.
From 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 3, the Saline County Chamber of Commerce and the United Way will have a school bus, donated by Eldorado school district, parked in the Harrisburg Walmart parking lot accepting donations to add to those already received to STUFF THE BUS!
