A two-car crash at the state Route 13 Bill Franks bypass and U.S. Route 45 in Harrisburg Saturday closed the intersection for at least half an hour.
Harrisburg Police and firefighters arrived just before 5 p.m. to find a 16-year-old male — whose name police will not release as he is a juvenile — had driven through a red light to crash into a car occupied by a group from Fort Meyers, Fla., according to Harrisburg Police Chief Bob Smith.
The car was driven by Theresa Achaval, 42, with passengers Daniel R. Achaval, 52, and a 12-year-old passenger, Smith said. Firefighters extricated Theresa and Daniel Achaval from the car using cutters and spreaders and both were flown from the scene by a medical helicopter. Smith said as of Sunday both were in stable condition with no life-threatening injuries.
The 12-year-old received a minor injury, Smith said.
The 16-year-old driver of the truck was uninjured and was cited on a charge of disobeying a traffic control device, Smith said.
