HARRISBURG — The Carrier Mills American Legion won a weather-shortened game 8-4 against Carmi Wednesday night.
Dane Hish led Post 364 at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs, while Darren Betz, Kyle Wise and Tyler Thompson all had a hit. Josh Bailey went 0-for-1, but scored a run as did Jarred Jackson.
Jackson's lead off walk got things going in the first for Carrier Mills. Betz then doubled to bring Jackson home. Hish's single then brought Betz in to give Carrier Mills a 3-0 lead. Kyle Wise doubled in the second and then scored to make it a 4-0 advantage.
Carmi managed three runs in the second and added a solo run in the 3rd.
In the bottom of the fourth, Wise drew a walk, which was followed by Tyler Thompson's single to move Wise to third and was picked off trying to get an extra base.
Wise then scored and Bailey walked for the second time on the day followed by a walk for Betz. Hish then stepped to the plate and drove the ball over the center field wall for a three-run homer.
A storm came up and the game was called due to weather.
Carrier Mills is scheduled to host Albion in a doubled header Friday (tonight) at 6:00 p.m. at Mike Lawerence Field.
