  • A thunderstorm Wednesday evening brought reported 50 mph winds in Harrisburg before passing into Gallatin County and to the east.
There was a report of a tree crashing onto a car in Harrisburg, many limbs were down and some may have found loose shingles or gutters in their yards, but there have been no other reports of significant damage.
Once the storm passed over Gallatin County, a golden sunset with pink mammatus clouds — often associated with strong storms — appeared.
Then as darkness fell dramatic lightning struck at the western horizon as a second storm system moved through the region, but had no significant impact on southeastern Illinois.
