Illinois State Police District 19 announced the results of a Roadside Safety Check held during the late evening hours Saturday and early morning at state Route 13 at state Route 1.
Alcohol is involved in over 40 percent of fatal crashes in Illinois, according to a release from the ISP and RSCs are designed to remove alcohol-impaired drivers.
Troopers checked 146 vehicles and issued the following citations:
Registration/Insurance offenses — 5
Driver's license offenses — 1
Occupant restraint offenses — 4
Driving under the influence arrests — 2
Other alcohol/drug arrests — 5
Total citations/arrests — 17
Total written warnings — 7
This project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, Division of Traffic Safety.
ISP has also released enforcement figures from the Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrol held Monday in Saline County.
ISP issued five seat belt citations, one additional citation and two warnings, according to a release from ISP. There were no child restraint citations issued.
