Charles R. "Dude" Field age 91 of Carrier Mills passed away 3:50 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013, in St. Marys Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.
He was born in Carrier Mills on May 8, 1922, to Raymond E. and Martha Tanner Field. He married Pearl J. Dallas on March 6, 1943, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 2007. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills, a retired U.M.W. of A. member. He was the co-owner of the former Fields 5 & 10, member of the Blazing Star Lodge No. 458 AF & AM, Ainad Temple of the Shrine and was a former village council member for Carrier Mills.
He is survived by two sons: Chris and Debbie Field of Carrier Mills and Monty and Malinda Field of Harrisburg; seven grandchildren: Courtney Field, Brandi Field, Stephanie (Gene) Wise, Kristin Field, Derek (Rachel) Field, Elizabeth (Randy) Lollis and Ted A. Field; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, LaVern (Edna) Field of Carrier Mills, Larry (Sue) Field of Harrisburg; four sisters, Betty Renshaw of Mt. Vernon, Darlene Stovall of Collinsville, Patsy (John) Wasson of Carrier Mills.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Charles Richard “Dick” Field; and a brother, Bob.
Memorial services for Charles R. Field will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church of Carrier Mills. The Rev. Stan Irvin will officiate and burial will be in Salem Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. by Blazing Star Lodge No. 458 AF & AM at the church.
The family’s wish is that flowers be omitted and memorials directed in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis, Mo., or the Carrier Mills First United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
