  • How far will dollars go in this economy?
The congregation at House of Freedom Worship Center near Cave-In-Rock proved that $10,560 will go more than a mile.
In order to draw attention to their fund raising program for construction of a new, larger church these worshippers taped together the dollars they had raised and stretched the money chain from their old church to the site of their new church.
The distance is about a mile west on state Route 146.
The money will be used to connect electricity to the site of the new church. Construction will begin soon after the site has power.
Church member Jo Jenkins said, "God is good. Our next goal is to raise the $250,000 to $300,000 we need to actually build the church. So far we have a beautiful hilltop piece of land and the money for the electricity."
About 50 church members met at the church on state Route 146 at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday. At 7 p.m. they started unrolling a ribbon of dollar bills as they walked west down the state highway. They used an ATV to unroll the spools of dollars that they had prepared before the event.
When they got to the hilltop property a mile away, they had a few spools of dollars left over.
