  • The Carrier Mills Fire Department is hosting the Stompin’ Out Cancer Softball Tournament on Saturday in Carrier Mills.
Audie and Cindy Murphy are organizing this benefit to help Dana Parks and Vicki Odum and their families with the costs of the cancer treatment these two Carrier Mills women are undergoing. The softball tournament will be held at the Carrier Mills High School and Mike Lawrence ball fields beginning at 8 a.m. Trophies will be awarded for the top three teams.
“With the 13 or 14 teams we expect to get, we have the possibility of up to 23 separate games in the tournament,” Audie Murphy stated, adding “It will go all day.”
The Carrier Mills Fire Department will provide concessions of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and sodas for sale at both baseball fields throughout the tournament and there will be a raffle of prizes and commemorative T-shirts will be available for purchase on the day of the tournament. T-Shirts are also available for pre-order by contacting the Murphy’s. The T-Shirts are designed and produced by the Carrier Mills, “Girls in the Garage” company.
The deadline for registering a team is noon on Wednesday, June 12; teams wishing to register should contact Audie Murphy at 618-841-7800. T-Shirts can be pre-ordered by contacting either Audie or Cindy Murphy (618-841-7790).
