  • The Saline County Historical Society event Life On the Illinois Frontier was rescheduled from its original date in May to last Saturday, June 1.
It rained most of Saturday and the event was cancelled again.
Society President Mary Shackleford said, "We are not going to reschedule again this year. We are just going to wait until next year."
The event was designed to teach the public about the lifestyle of early pioneers to this area. Museum staff were to dress in period costumes and demonstrate how things were done in the nineteenth century here in Illinois. Broom making, cooking, transportation and weaponry were all going to be reenacted.
