Ranel Lee “Randy” Shelton, age 64, of Carrier Mills, passed away at 12:07 a.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013, in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born on July 11, 1948, to the late Everett “Gene” Shelton and Pearl (Eubanks) Shelton. He married Joyce Dudley on June 28, 1968, at Spring Valley Social Brethren Church and she survives in Carrier Mills. Randy was a member of the Harrisburg First Church of God. He was an Army Veteran serving in Vietnam during 1969 to 1970.
Randy was a car enthusiast, he loved to show his 1953 Ford Truck that he built; he also enjoyed camping and fishing.
Randy is survived by his wife Joyce Shelton of Carrier Mills; two daughters, Amy Shelton of McLeansboro and Tara Sprague and husband, Brycker of Marion; two grandchildren, Emma Sprague and Eli Sprague of Marion; sister, Barbara Sue Green of Harrisburg; nieces and nephews, Mark Green of Harrisburg, Mike Green and wife Tammy of Brookport, Lori Schwartz and husband Kyle of Carrier Mills, Ted Donley and wife Lesa of Harrisburg and Jeana Winters and husband Mike of Golconda.
Funeral services for Ranel Lee “Randy” Shelton will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Daniel Masters will officiate and burial will follow in Spring Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Memorials may be made to the Harrisburg First Church of God Building Fund and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
