  • Anna Gearldean O’Neal, age 92, longtime resident of Ridgway died peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2013, in the Harrisburg Medical Center surrounded by her family.

  • Anna Gearldean O’Neal, age 92, longtime resident of Ridgway died peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2013, in the Harrisburg Medical Center surrounded by her family.
    Gearldean as most knew in her was born Gallatin County on March 24, 1921, to the late Raymond and Junie (Ginger) Vaught. She was first married to Cletus Hendrix who preceded her in death in 1976. In 1985 she married Ray O’Neal who survives. She was well known for years as she and her sister-in-law sang at many funerals. She loved to fish and be outside and you could hear her whistling forever. She was a lifelong Church of God member and a good Christian woman. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed.
    Gearldean is survived by, her husband, Ray O’Neal of Ridgway; two sons, Vic (Deanna) Hendrix of Ridgway, Rannie Dale (Sandra) Hendrix of Palm Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Diann (Bill) Duckworth of Ridgway; one sister, Inez Cowsert of Eldorado; six grandchildren, Kim (Bob) Belford, Jamie (Rhonda) Duckworth, John (Kristina) Hendrix, and Scott (Jen) Hendrix, Tim (Ellen) Cherry, Greg (Barbara) Cherry; 11 great-grandchildren, Robbie, Chelsea, Ashley, Tyler, Blayne, Adam, Jackson and Nathan, Samantha, Chaz, and Liz; four great-great-grandchildren, Keaton, Brady and Jada and Blain.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Merle Potts; a brother Junior Vaught; and a great-grandchild, Chelsea.
    Visitation for Gearldean will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013, at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway. Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at the funeral home starting at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lyndal Sork officiating. Interment will follow at the Jackson Cemetery near Ridgway.
    In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House, and envelopes will be available at funeral home.
